I know plenty will think I'm crazy, but i'm looking to buy. I'm looking for a 80-110k house in the essex area.

Must be a house and must be freehold. Time to start hunting on rightmove.

Right now, I think you can be cheeky and make some ridiculous offers. Most vendors may laugh in your face, but someone desperate may accept...

Think your right - now is a great time, the nervous people will be ready to jump so good deals to be had, so are you an Essex girl then?? ???

What, white stilletos and Capri Ghia? North or South Essex? I'm an Essex Boy myself, (though not through birth - settled here 20 years ago) A real variety of properrty opportunities in the county, think Chelmsford looks hot (but dearer end) - what part are you looking??

I'm thinking of the Harlow area. There's a lot of demand for rental property there because of the huge business parks and the main hospital.

I just read this morning, must be fate..

Bargain hunters reignite UK housing market

Rightmove said there were signs this month of a recovery in the market as homeowners had rushed to put their homes up for sale ahead of the December 14 deadline for the introduction of Hips for properties with one and two bedrooms.

It said that this surge had reduced the average cost of a property on the market.

The company added that there had been a "marked increase" in activity and prices immediately after the new year as a result of lower prices and falling interest rates.

Miles Shipside, commercial director of Rightmove, said: "Some homebuyers are now able to find properties that have fallen into their affordability zone, and are bagging what they see as bargains against previous prices.

Think thats a good call, dont like the area much ( but am basing it on 10 years ago- which is unfair as lot of investment in regenration-) still a lot of chavs there. But your right a lot of big pharmaceuticals there as well as other blue chips, and with Stansted up the road getting the new runway, more demand for housing, yes, the more I think of it the more I agree with you

I'm pretty sure Chelmsford is more chavy than Harlow now :)

Definitely not, burberry caps per capita is significantly lower in Chemsford :D
