Has anyone else been through this?

Today we received a letter from the Land Registry:Wales Office regarding a maisonette we own (one of 102 in a street) that is a Leasehold that has not been registered for 30 years. 

The Freeholder has now applied for registration (form B2-1) and we have been sent a form to sign and return as Consent or an email address where we can object to the registration.

The Freeholder has been absent without communication for 30 years and no fees have ever been sought/communication with solicitors during purchase etc, so would it be possible to object on any grounds or would we just be wasting our time?
