Home Information Packs (HIPs) will be extended to one and two bedroom properties being sold in England and Wales from 14 December, 2007 the government has announced.

Since 10 September, all three bedroom properties and upwards in England and Wales have required a HIP before they can be sold.

The inclusion of one and two bedroom properties is supposed to make it easier for first-time buyers to purchase a home.

Commenting on the announcement, Jeff Smith, chief executive of HIP Payment Services, said: "With HIPs fully rolled out across the market they will finally be able to bring about the many benefits they were initially designed to achieve – a faster, more transparent process which will aid a more informed buying decision."

Also of your a FTB .... a home info pack isnt really going to sway it for you now is it ... its probably the colour of the laminate in the front room ... or what colour the walls are painted .

arghh .

I don't think the initial plan was to apply the HIP to 1 bedroom houses. But then people kept declaring bedrooms as just "rooms" and it voided them from the packs.

So I have a feeling that they extended it to 1 bedroom properties to avoid that loophole. Don't quote me on that, though.

Its a load of balls if you ask me. just another way to line the government's friend's pockets, just like IR35 didn't apply to f****** solicitors.

Ba$tards.
