As it says on the tin, would you if you had a garage on the side of your house convert it into a stylish little bathroom and an extra room for what ever?
In this day and age people are looking for extra space, and as more people work from home now and in general even if you don't you still do office based things on ya pc, is it time to give a big hand to the garage and say thank you and good bye and convert or do we keep the what we used to pine for as an essential wish list item, garage and use it for what it is, storage space, after all cars are protected now for 25 yrs against rust, so we leave the dam things on the drive cos the garage is full off crap or its been converted anyway, or we are just to lazy or busy to open the bloody shin splitting garage door anyway lol.
Your thoughts are as always very welcomed and sometimes appreciative.

I would keep the garage, personally!

If the garage is attached to the side of the house, and has room to build on top of that- I would!

Raven, you'd be an expert in this field.

What would add most value to a property in this scenario? Suppose you have a house with a garage, is it best to leave it as a garage or convert it into an extra room?

I imagine parking availability on the actual road/neighbourhood itself would play a major factor for this issue?

Is converting a garage very much dependent on the local parking situation, in terms of value, or does converting a garage into an extra room always increase the value of a property?

Hey badgy! :)

Ok in my recent trip back to the UK. We visited my old home in Banbury and the guy living there now has made quite a few changes to the house. We use to have a mother huge garage there, however YES he's in the process of converting that into an extra en suite room. However understand the importance of garage space for a car, he used space on the side of the house that was used purely for landscapping before, and built a shed over it... an open shed. So yeh it all worked out quite nicely.

Garage space is essential depending on areas with severe climate specially in the winter time. However if you live in an area that's warm and gorgeous most of the time... i don't think its THat much of an issue. Extra space converted into Rooms/bathrooms always adds to the value i'm guessing? and When it comes to single family homes, and rooms.... more the merrier.

:D

ps some pics of that home...  u can see he added an open shed to the side

In delayed responce to your question PF. In my opinion and certainly in the area I cover, an extra room is makes a property far mor sellable than a  garage. It might not neccesarly make more money but these days peoples lifestyles are requiring extra rooms in a property. One of the biggest changes to most households is the fact that people want to have a seperate computer room instead of sharing the bedroom or the tv room. Once upon a time the "study" was just for the rich but its the norm more often now.
