I've had an estate agent call me every day for the past 2 weeks

A few weeks ago I popped into an estate agent just to browse around at the properties on the market. I started talking to an agent, and he basically asked me if I was interested in buying property right now. I said "not really, unless a great deal pops up", his response was, "ok, well just take our booklet, it has our current stocklist"

I took it with me, and told him I would call him if I fancy anything.

He's called me every day since. It's kind of annoying. I haven't picked up the phone once, but he KEEPS calling. You'd think after a few days he'd give up.

Ok, so earlier on today, my mum called me and said some estate agent called for me, and he was asking whether he could put up more "for sale" boards  outside the property I was selling. My mum got confused and assumed I was selling a house without telling her. My mum called me and said, "are you selling a house? An estate agent called and asked if he could put boards up"

I was like, "what the hell? I'm not selling any proeprties"

Then I started wondering if the person who had been calling me every day was a guy from the same agency trying to sell my house, and not actually the guy I had met in the estate agent who was trying to sell me a house.

My mum said just to call them up. I called them, and said, "hey, someone called for me earlier (referencing my name), do you know who it was?" Eventually, i got put through to this estate agent, and he said, "Hi Sir, i called you to see if you were still interested in buying properties"

I said, "no, but if a good deal comes up, let me know"

Rather odd. One person at the estate agency is trying to sell me a house, and other is trying to put more boards up on a house that i'm not even selling. And I have no idea how they got my parents landline number...

I do agree with you, agents can be really annoying. as a rookie I was taught to apply all the annoying tactics like ringing people every 5 minutes offering them a flats when they where really looking for houses ect. Nowdays I moniter my staff and make sure we arent getting on anybodys nerves. The trouble with the larger companies is, the negotiators are on targets for appointments made every day.
At the end of the day, nobody likes a pushy salesman.

one of the most annoying things Ive come across is the text messaging of property to my mobile. I have bollocked agents for doing that to me in the past. at least get my permmission first.

I requested one set of details recently for a nice house locally. The agent insisted on sending me three more sets of details for houses I wasn't interested in, then calling me every other night for a fortnight. If that's what it takes to sell a house they'll be able to automate it within the next few years ... or maybe they'll just offshore it to Prague or Bangalore instead.

lol, that's a classic trick.

They show you all kinds of property that are nothing like the original spec you described.

propertyfag

ooooh, but I know you wouldn't do that, Raven! You're one of those rare gems (no sarcasm).
