Local authority tenant Ruth Ben-Adir, 44, has moved into the Grade II-listed building while repairs are carried out on her home. The home is said to be the most expensive council house in britain, being worth a staggering £2m.

The historic property, owned by Camden Council, sits on the edge of 29-acre Waterlow Park in Highgate Village, north London.

Miss Ben-Adir now counts celebrities such as George Michael and Sting as her neighbours, while Government minister Tessa Jowell also lives nearby.

She moved into the house several weeks ago, along with her 22-year-old son, while council workers renovate her home in nearby Kentish Town.
