A friend of mine built an outbuilding to accommodate a gym and meditation room (partitioned 2 rooms) .... with facility of wc/shower/small kitchenette.
His colleague had problems and was kicked out of his rented room together with his room-mate.. The friend offered his help by letting him move temporary into his outhouse (legally no one should dwell there).... and charged him a nominal rent and a months rent as deposit.
The guy could not pay deposit - so my friend ignored that and did not take the deposit.
The guy with his friend moved in.  As it was getting cold at night, my friend bought  2 room heaters to further help. The guy's fiance was returning from Rumania so immediately the guy furnished the place with d/bed + dining table + fridge + etc...
In the first month - the guy paid rent in bits - and my friend even gave him couple of days paid labor work and the money from which went towards the rent.
In this second month - the guy refuses to pay any money for living there.  He also is threatening my friend that my will be in bad shape should he try to demand money cause he will report to the local council that he is staying there -- and they would prosecute my friend whilst he will get a months notice to vacate.

What can my friend do ---- ???? he is in the wrong but how can he come out of this.... ??? How can he evict the guy....  There are no written contracts or agreements.... all verbal ....   The guy even used my friends address to change the address on his driving license .....  ???please advise

Can we please - genuinely - ask you whether you are your friend?

If it came to it, you could just change the locks while he's out. The benefit of you not signing a contract is that he has no leg to stand on legally, and there's no paper trail to show that you've done anything wrong.

Someone please  correct me on this but if he went to the police and said you took some money for one month and haven't had anything else, you could explain that you're allowing a friend to stay out of kindness and have asked for a small bit of money toward your mortgage. If you own the house I'm pretty sure that's legal.

If any officials ask, you're helping a colleague out of the kindness of your heart, not for monetary gain (which you've had virtually none anyway)

very good suggestion........   I was thinking of switching off electricity ... and also thought of removing his goods/furniture and pile it outside my property....
All sorts of thoughts run through mind when one is in this situation...

Hoooooooray..... got rid of them --- phew ---- cut the power / he vacated 80% / changed the locks --- gave him deadline to collect balance of his goods... all worked wonders....  Thank you especially sarahmayfuller
