UK bank accounts

Hello, as a 20 year non-resident UK citizen, my bank (NatWest) just informed me they will close my UK accounts due to a new policy change and UK-centric focus. This is my only UK bank account that i have used for 38 years and into which I have received rental income (from a UK property) for the last 3 years.

I need to open a new account in the UK but that is not easy as a non-resident person...my options thus far consist of using an online money transfer type of service offered by the likes of Monzo or Monese, or open a HSBC expat account which requires a substantial fixed income or min deposit of 50k. None of which are satisfactory solutions. I was hoping i might be able to just "Switch" to another bank but all the T&C terms require UK residency. I've even thought of just going ahead and switching without full disclosure but...not sure if that's a good idea.

Does anyone have similar experiences or advice....I'm stuck!

Many thanks
Dexter

Your non disclosure route won't work. Electronic checks run at account opening will discover your residential status.
