Has anyone experienced tenants registering businesses without permission? are there any charges applicable from council? do I need Council Permission to charge for registering businesses in my flat? Are there any potential penalties or charges for registering the business in residential address?

If its just a registered office no problem.

Any sort of office is okay I think, provided it is secondary to the use of the property as a residence.

Anything else who knows? depends on what, and what is in your title deeds etc

Any business rates shouldn't be an issue for you in any event.

Thank you. I actually live abroad so I can't check what my tenants do in my property. They say that its only a registered office. This still is a breach of contract as the lease doesnt allow any business whatsoever. I am quite upset that they havent asked me for any permission as well. What would you suggest to do?

boboff

Nothing.

It is not an issue what so ever.

Surely you must understand they have the right to have post delivered for a business they run to a place they call home, and pay rent on?

It must be hard being abroad, but if they are good tenants, this in terms of issues is the smallest one you'll ever come across.
