As landlords are we entitled to a copy of tenancy agreement from letting agent. As the one we are using are reluctant to give one. But we would want one to prove to utilities that they were the tenants at that time.

As in you haven't been given a copy of the signed tenancy agreement where you are the landlord?

Err, yeah! You are the landlord, of course you need a copy of the tenancy agreement. What the actual????

Thanks KTC. Should we have been given one from the start?
We went with an agent because we were new to this and workig full time. We are wrangling over other things aswell but that's for later.

Of course you should have been given one from the start. You should have been given an unsigned copy / draft so you can check you are happy with the terms, and then you should have been given a copy of the signed tenancy agreement. Without a copy of the tenancy agreement, how on earth do you know what your agent agreed to for you on your behalf?

This seems actively weird. I can understand an Agent not wanting to hand over their IP to someone they don't work for... but you've employed them now, they work for you.

Can only mirror what's been said. It's your legal duty to have a tenancy agreement.

The letting agent is never responsible if something goes wrong, so you need to be on top of what has been signed and what you've agreed to.

What baffles me is who has countersigned it if not you as the landlord?
