How do you find a tenant?

I am new to this and looking for advice.

I would like to advertise my property (a 3 bed house in N London) to potential tenants so I don't need to use an estate agent. My partner has done this in the past (over 10 years ago) and used a newspaper called LOOT.

Is this still a good method or are there better ways available nowadays?

Any tips gratefully received.

The important thing imv is not so much how or where you advertise, but how you vet pospective tenants.

Try upad. They will do things like affordability tests, no DSS if you specify it, and you still get to vet prospective tenants as you have to show them around.

There might be a facebook group set up that you could join for that particular area, like a sales page or just an info page - you could try that!

I've not tried this myself but I'm a a member on various local facebook pages and on one in particular there are often properties advertised for rent.

Try a site called RENTIFY, they seems to be on the ball, and its free

Rentify is not free from what I can see.

The best way to get tenants is by using an online letting agent and getting your property on Zoopla/Rightmove, in my opinion. http://www.propertyinvestmentproject.co.uk/blog/online-letting-agents/

Thanks for suggestions so far.

Apparently Rentify will put your ad on Zoopla for free but for an extra £60 will also put it on Rightmove.

I personally wouldn't bother without Rightmove. That's just my preference though.
