I'm a journalist researching into pensioners becoming landlords as a way of supplementing their income.  Is there anyone out there who would let me know how they have found the experience?  I'm talking about small scale landlords, ie those who only own 1 or 2 rental properties.
Cheers!

Pensioners dont do this do they?

They would be massively stupid if they did as it's long term, and stressful. ( My Dad has been a landlord for many years and sold his houses when he retired, he was becoming more and more unable to cope with all the new regulations and it really annoyed him)

Cant you do a story about how rubbish agents are, how there is too much red tape, and that the media is continually trying to make out all landlords are scheming rich nasty dicks, that I would love to read.....

Right off to whip my tenants into paying rent on a mouldy box, and drown a few kittens....

I'm afraid I agree. Having just become a pensioner, I've had enough and want to sell - 'tis one of life's little mysteries that no-one now wants to leave!

On the other hand, if you come across anyone who wants a ready-built empire of 4 houses in Swindon, I take it all back!
