Hi,

I would really appreciate your advice on this. The lights along the corridor and dining room stopped working in one of my let properties, which is an old property I bought last year. I have Landlord Enhanced Combined Cover with Homeserve, but an electrician turned up and called the electrical wiring is sub-standard and so didn't do anything. I forced Homeserve to send another electrician for a second opinion - he said the same thing and accepted re-wiring is needed to get the lights to work again, this is not covered under the policy since electrical rewiring is sub-standard. I am surprised because I thought re-wiring would be covered under the policy, I mean shouldn't they have to do something to get the lights to work again?

HomeServe won't do anything and advised I take my complaint to Ombudsmen. Any advice on this would be appreciated. HomeServe advised that I get a certified Electrician to look at the house and bring it to acceptable standard and get a certificate from them as proof before HomeServe will come back again to do any work.

Many thanks

Martha

Sounds reasonable to me. Have you read the T&C which you signed ?  What do they say ?
