Should I be suspicious of estate agent?

Hi.  I have had a small property renovated and put in good order.  Originally my letting agent sold me on single tenancy lets at an acceptable weekly rate and said he had people ready to take them - mostly migrant workers.  He had a Polish contact who got tenants for him.  I paid my fee...then(sadly) found out that particular agent had left the company.  The series of employees I spoke to next gradually informed me single lets at the price quoted were just not going to happen in that neighbourhood.  In fact, single lets were not going to happen at all and they told me the feedback from the few people who looked round was that I was expecting too much rent.  However, 2 months later I was told that (happily) there was a guy who was willing to take house at a reduced price but probably as good as any other in the area for a whole house let.  Now I'm told the tenancy is a "company let". I have found out the "tenant" is another letting agent who is letting out to migrants.  I'm wondering...why? Should I be suspicious???  Has anyone else come across this?

this sounds like sub letting which is specifically forbidden in most tenancy agreements and also in most buy to let mortgage terms as well (which i presume you have).
the agent has no right to do this as he subsequently has no control over evicting individual tenants therefore he is useless to you.
your best bet would be to have conversation with the subletting agent and tell him you are unhappy with the arrangement.
