Good Morning everyone,  i have really enjoyed reading many of these posts and the situations can arise for a Landlord.

Basically , I wanted to ask you if an application for accelerated position is dismissed because of bad paperwork / invalid Section 21.

I did not protect deposit / no guide to rent / no Energy Performance Certificate.

Could I send a deposit cheque to tenant before the application.

I noticed one of the questions is ' have you returned deposit ? '

The only way to successfully defend a section 21 notice is to show that it's not valid.

And if the deposit wasn't protected or some other requirement was not done before the notice was served, it won't be valid.
You can't fix that afterwards.
You have to correct the things that are a problem and then serve notice again.

If your tenant doesn't cash the deposit cheque, your issue will persist.

Even if they do accept the cheque,that does not stop them from suing the landlord of course.
