Interesting thing in the News...

And I always thought it was my Human Rights that were being impinged. I never applied for the position of Border Patrol Strike Force - to the eXtreme! I would've remembered.

I still don't know why or what we are supposed to do!

Today? You are supposed to ensure the people you are letting property to have the Right to Rent in the UK... typically this entails asking to see their passport with some kind of Leave To Remain date on it... and taking a picture of it... for your records. And then keep that, for at least 7 years, in a cast iron steel box... under your bed, or at a Solicitor... or digitally, on a password-protected and fully encrypted NAS, not a USB stick you also use for music in your car!

Basically, the Government's approach to non-optional outsourcing of border patrol... out-saucing!

Yes, apparently carry on making the checks as usual ... wasting OUR time and resources.

I have been accused of racism when I have asked to see prospective tenant's passports and had all sorts of abuse hurled at me!!!  Agree with previous post I am NOT a border security agent, and feel like billing the government for my time for doing their job for them!!

By law you do have the right to check your tenants and the law states that you / letting agent are responsible for checking the tenant has the right to stay in the UK.
