After reading up on blogs etc, I've realised I didn't have a clue how much the council tax was on my property rent out when the question asked on the AST.
I never put it on the tenancy, do I need to? Is it just a simple call to my local council to find out?

Thanks in advance

Audrey Wright

Have you paid council tax on the property yet ? If you're not letting it to a tenant, you're responsible for council tax, or at least some portion of it, if you don't live in the property.

It does no bad to put it on the tenancy, as the tenant will be responsible to cover the tax during their occupancy. Each local council assigns their own council tax, so it might differ slightly from council to council. There is a tool to help you find out the council tax of your property: http://cti.voa.gov.uk/cti/inits.asp
