If I move into my father's second home, without paying rent, would I be able to sublet a room and claim this as my own income?

Furthermore, would I be able to claim the rent a room allowance for this?

I guess what this comes down to, is so I legally count as a tenant if I am not paying any rent.

Thank you very much in advance for helping, I have searched everywhere without any luck to answer this.

It almost seems to me that the person answering this question should really be your father. Subletting as a concept isn't illegal, nor is Rent a Room (lodging)... and on the latter you don't even need to claim it as your income. If you go that approach you basically don't need to do anything / much... but the technicality is in the agreement you (Tenant) would usually sign with the Landlord (father) which would try to prohibit subletting... and I'm guessing there won't be any agreement here? So you're basically just going to do things by his wishes... and, in that case, the discussion would be best being with him.
