Hi All.

I have recently taken over a three bed terrace which is split into two flats. I am aware that I need to put interlinked smoke alarms in hall and landing but can someone point me in the direction where I can get advice as to what's needed regarding fireproofing the escape route and what exactly is part of the escape route. I know it needs fireboard or double plasterboard but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

As you enter the hall, the fire door is on the right side to downstairs flat, the entrance to upstairs flat is facing you at the bottom of the stairs.

Thanks in advance

Expect sorted now but if not Im only new landlord (bruised by experience) description of property too much now for small brain - have you had advice from fire service? Make enquiries if HMO may do or possibly advise who would have answer.

Hi the fire service will come out and offer free advise so will your local council department, they are there for advice not just enforcement plus working with them will save problems later if you get a unhappy tenant. You will need fire does exit route for the upstairs tenant. Hope this helps
