I am fitting a carpet in one of my flats, because I like the tenant beneath and the recent tenants in the upstairs flat have been ludicrously noisy.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what sort of carpet I should get?

I'll be putting acoustic underlay as well, obviously.

Hoping to buy in the sales.

I'm quite partial to stripes. Nothing overly ornate, but better than completely plain, I think. Yes, stripes of some description. Certainly not a plain beige. A nice pile, but nothing too deep, obviously.

Riptide

Strips?  LOL - Terrible choice.

Flecked loop pile all the way.

Hippogriff

They would not be "in your face stripes", just something to break up the monotony of a solid colour carpet. I especially like stripes on stairs, but I realise that is probably not what we're discussing here, obviously.

Cream, Wool, Hesian backed.

Pay more on the underlay, less on the carpet.

Obviously. Obviously the OP knows this.

Well she knows stripes look shite as well. :P

I've recently gone for a slate grey twist, had beige barber previously which wore well but showed every stain (and there were a lot of them after my last tenants) and I think beige has had its day!  Haven't had new carpets fitted yet but really good half price deal came up at carpet right end of October, generally I like to use local companies but got 2 to quote but both were £200 more expensive, for the whole house.  They are also able to store them until I'm ready in January.

She has not indicated so. Not at all, obviously.

boboff

Obviously, Obvious you're obviously having an obvious aversion, obviously.

Hippogriff

What, exactly, are your credentials? What do you know about carpets to give advice like that out? The advice given out so far might, admittedly, be that of the layman... but we can be sure the OP has found it incredibly valuable nevertheless.

boboff

His credentials?

Just look at his name, surely, and obviously thats enough for you?
