To rectify an unsatisfactory EICR report it cost me  a hefty1300 quid , is it normal?

Items to be rectified include:

1. 1.6 No isolator present at the main cutout from the DNO.  C3  .  Consumer Unit.

2. 4.1 Front cover for distribution is restricted and hard to remove from metre cupboard.  C3  .  Consumer Unit.

3. 4.2  Consumer unit is made of combustible material .

4, 4.4 No circuit chart present at consumer unit.

5. 4. 125 2kw cooker and 7.6 kw hob feed via 32amp radial circuit. ( cuicut 7 )

6. 4.18 no SDP present.

Can anyone help? What is the cost to replace a consumer unit including material and labore?

Thanks in advance.

There's no requirement to proactively replace existing consumer units with metal ones... you can't install plastic ones in new installations. Seems like your Sparky offered you a choice and you elected to do that, on top. The Sparky Feeding Frenzy of 2020. Someone has gotta have something positive come out of this year. The usual cost might be around £500.

Several years ago I paid around £450 per studio flat, a 2 bed terrace house was about £750.I am told the boards themselves are around £100 to buy,so I think it is a nice little earner.

Thanks for everyone's reply. Finally I dropped the engineer and find a friend to  produce EICR for me . It cost less with a freelancer than a company .

I hope they met the Gov't requirements on qualifications and expierience.
