Hi All,

New to the forum and hoping for some wisdom/advice.

Our tenant has reported and infestation of Silverfish and Carpet Moth at our property. We think due to some damp from water ingress that we are rectifying.

We arranged pest treatment without delay, but our tenant has decided to move out as she said she can't live there,

We don't think it's to bad and the pest company have said it wasn't necessary to leave the property. We did agree that she didn't need to pay rent whilst she was away from the house, but now she is asking us to pay storage costs for all of her stuff as well.

I'm of the opinion that it was her choice to move out so we wouldn't be liable for the costs. But i don't really know where we stand. Any advice or experience would be gratefully received.

Many Thanks
Johnny

I don't think you need to make any further gestures of goodwill. If you have acted promptly and the underlying problem is also being put right that's all you can do. Is she on a periodic tenancy or is the AST still in place?

Thanks Heavykarma, she is on a periodic tenancy now
