Hi everyone

I am about to start letting out my house to a single family in Barking and Dagenham.. While I found tenants and tenancy has been agreed, I have been told that I need to obtain a "selective licence" by applying on borough website.

While filling the application they required quite a few documents to be uploaded, among those are "Floor Plan" and "Fire Risk Assessment". In order to save some money, I have drawn a basic floor plan with room dimensions but without any details such as where the oven, sink, boiler etc. is located. From anyone experience, is this enough to satisfy the local authority?

I am also required to create that fire risk assessment, but I never did any of this before. Would it be safe to download any free templates and go along with that?

This is my first experience with lettings, so any advice would be appreciated...

I'd talk to the council, a fire risk assessment isn't something, for example, I'd be confident I could carry out, and what are you going to do if the assessment raises concerns that need to be mitigated?
