John Lewis price match tactics

I do like to buy from John Lewis.

I had need of a new washer / dryer last night... Tenants told me the Hotpoint had given up the ghost after 7 years - that's not a bad run, right? PBC replacement probably. I took a look, nothing I could do... so instead of getting someone out, um-and-ah about it, maybe take it away, install a new or refurbished PCB and give me some crappy warranty, I decided to walk up to John Lewis (city centre apartment) and buy a new one.

I selected a Bosch... £629! Eek! I like Bosch, a lot. And checked prices online - Currys had a LAUNDRY10 code for 10% off the same price, and AO had a BDKITCHEN40 code for £40 off their price of £599.

Well... John Lewis, bless 'em, said they would match against Currys, but not AO... fair enough. I was gonna go for it, but I got myself onto live chat on Currys and they do match against AO.

So, I got Currys to price match against AO - all in live chat - and then, believe it or not, I got John Lewis to match against Currys. I'm not sure they're supposed to do that, but the Sales Colleague did! And, then, because I wanted the whole thing done for me - disconnection, removal, disposal, connection and test... I bought those from John Lewis and I ended up with an even cheaper price than anywhere else - because they charge £5 less for the accompanying services.

So, John Lewis price match (we all knew that). John Lewis also price match against codes (maybe some of us didn't know that). John Lewis can also be persuaded to price match against AO (YMMV).

Great to know!! I don't mind replacing white goods but I have to shop around. Glad you got the best price.
