Hi,

I am required to do Fire risk Assessments on 2 of my rented houses by my local council.  Can I assess them myself? Has anybody done this?

Any replies appreciated, thanks.

What does the council stipulate?

Only the council can answer your question. anyone can do a risk assesment but they may have criteria.

Thank you for your reply...........I believe I can do this as a "fit & proper person" as quoted by the Council.  However, they sent me a document to use, but it is useless as it is for commercial property - not a private dwelling.  The council has not done this Selective Licensing before.

This has only come about as the local council have decided that certain streets in a particular area, I have to pay to have a licence for the honour to rent them out!  I have searched in vain to find someone else who has (had to) do/done this for a private house -   NOT an HMO.

Any information you have will help.   Thank you
