Hi, I just wanted to say what a great site this is! My tenant has left the property without notice (I paid the deposit back) but she has left me with £264 unpaid Water Rates bill. She has left no forwarding address so I have no idea where she is. Who is responsible for the bill? I know I have not handled the situation well i.e. giving back deposit but I just need to know who is responsible for the bill? Many thanks

If she had registered with the water company the tenant is liable not you.

Hi thanks but I thought as there had been changes to the Water and Flood Act 2010 the Landlord was now liable for unpaid Water Bills? Thanks

Don't believe everything utility companies tell you

If they quote chapter and verse read it yourself, check up.
