Living in buy to let whilst refurbishing.

I am in the process of purchasing a buy to let house. It is some three hours from my home. Initially I will need to collect keys and enter house to ensure house is secure and heating running. Hopefully this is possible within the Covid rules.  I then need to do some work on the property before I can rent it out. Due to the distance etc I would like to stay over whilst carrying out the work. I appreciate that I could ask this question of the mortgage lender but wondered if any members had any experience of asking and if what the result was. Thanks
