What is the maximum length a AST can be?

I have two tenancy agreements for 5years.  I've have just read something on your site that implied that 5years is too long for an AST - is that the case :-\

Any replies appreciated, thank you.

The best advice is to ask a solicitor.

I have an appointment with mine shortly but opted for a three year AST in the short term.

Thanks for your reply with the links. 

I'm still unsure - maybe I will speak to my solicitor.  Although I imagine they will confirm a deed will need to be drawn up as this will be money for them!!
