Letting agent doubling the contractor invoices

Hi all,

Funny story ...

Recently i noticed that my letting agent stopped sending me the contractors' quotes and invoices and instead just emails for the quotes and invoices generated by them.
I questioned that and requested the original invoices but was told that they get billed in bulk at the end of the month for all the jobs and cannot send that to me.
I accepted the explanation but asked for confirmation if any surcharge is being applied by them so i can take into account for future maintenance jobs.I was assured that no surcharges are applied on top of the contractor invoices.

Recently, one of their contractors sent me an invoice, that was meant for them, by mistake. The invoice was for a singe job - mine and 1/2 price of the invoice they sent to me for the same job.

I have already given them termination notice which they accepted and it seems that we never actually signed maintenance contract when i moved the flat with the tenant over to them.

I had significant cost on repairs recently and suspect they have done the same on all invoices.

I don't think they should get away with this as it seems like they are cheating both landlords and contractors. The latter, i expect, by pushing their prices really low so they can then double the invoice to the landlord without making it too obvious.

What do you think is the best course of action here?

Hippogriff

Walk on...

You expect this, or something like it.

This is common amongs agents. The best thing for you to do to if you want to save money is to get your own small team, made of a trustworthy plumber and an electrician and to put them in touch with your tenants.

I forgor to mention that I have a full course which teaches you how to manage your property here:

I think we had already guessed that you are trying to advertise and flog something

KTC

And I'm not sure I would want to take a course from someone whose first 5 post before the spam contained at least 2 legal errors, one of which was quite significant.

"By the powers invested in me, Eutopianlettings is hereby banished from this forum. The offences committed include blatant advertising, some grammatical errors and taking the piss thinking we would not notice.I also suspect that you meant the name to be a reference to Utopia, but you spelt it wrong."
Is that o.k Simon ?

Impressive stuff! I tend to favour judicious and/or amusing use of the Modify button myself.  ;)
