Hello all,

So say you are renting a property and the tenant informs a letting agent about some repair needed to be done.

Does a letting agent organise this and email me a couple of quotations for me to agree and then I can agree to proceed on this basis?

My agent has a number of tradespeople they use regularly, and they usually tell me the problem, the amount it will cost and I go ahead. The cost is usually roughly where I'd expect it to be. Very rarely do I have jobs large enough to need a quote for (I can't actually remember the last time that happened). Over the years, I have got to know the tradespeople and don't really expect them to rip me off.
Most smaller jobs are either delayed by getting quotes from multiple people or people won't turn up to quote.
