Landlord insurance for an apartment in a building that has insurance?

Hi all,

About to be a first time landlord, feeling quite smug that I've come across this site before signing a tenant up!  ;D

I have a question about insurance. The building that my apartment is in has its own buildings insurance, which covers the building, communal areas etc. I'm also letting my apartment unfurnished, hence have no contents to insure. My understanding is that typical landlord insurance covers the building, and the contents of the building - so two things that I think don't apply to me.

Am I right in thinking that there's no point in me getting traditional landlord insurance? Am I missing something obvious here?

Any help appreciated.

Liability, loss of rent, various other things?

I have Landlord's Insurance on an apartment I have where I also pay for buildings insurance like everyone else. It's cheap.

Thanks for your reply.

I intend on getting rent guarantee insurance. Please could you be more specific on the liability and "various other things" comment you made?

Cheers

Don't be lazy. I could, for sure, but I can't be bothered... because I'm lazy. RGI isn't worth anything in my view. Do some research or talk to a Broker if you need to. Brokers are good if you're lazy.
