Possible to have occupant as 'live in agent' to make others excluded occupiers?

I have a three bedroom flat. As it is i imagine universally the case, as a landlord/property owner I want to retain as much control over my property as possible. I only own one property, and at present, it is still the closest thing i have to a home, even though i spend a lot of time elsewhere.  If needs be i want a situation where it is as easy for me to move back into a room as possible, or reduce the amount of hassle a troublesome occupant can give me in my 'homely' place before evicting them.

In my research I have seen agreements which offer a tenancy for a room only, rather than the whole property which seems more desirable for me at present, though I still need to research into this further.

A while back i was reading up on in what situations an occupant would be an 'excluded occupier' / lodger. I swear i read something about if you had one occupant in your property serving as a 'live in agent' for you, it would make the other occupants excluded occupiers. I think i remember that in order for an occupant to be an agent, amoungst maybe other things, they would have to receive rent money from the other occupants, then pass it on to you.

Did I imagine this, or am i talking some sort of sense? Would anybody know where i could read up more about this? I think i found all the legislature i can regarding what defines an occupant as 'excluded', but what about this 'live in agent' business, as opposed to a live in landlord?

This is my last attempt to obtain more information before joining a landlords association i think, or maybe splashing out on some literature.
