Now, I have never followed-through a Section 21 all the way, I have never had to. So, objectively, this should not matter one jot to me... however, I feel that it's just an extra nail in the coffin of the Private Rental Sector. Emotive language such as "profiteering" and "a moment's notice" is used very effectively in this article - since when has a Section 21 been "a moment's notice"?

I am going to ponder this and try to be objective in my assessment.

The landscape continues to change under our feet.

I am appalled to read this news re section 21. I was ready to serve a section 8 this morning when the tenant magically paid part of the rent at 2-30am this morning. now I have to wait another 2 months. The tenant has previous convictions and CCJs which showed up only after the contract was signed. These I could ignore if he was going to be a good tenant but he isn't. He piles rubbish up around the house. He has drained the oil tank (which I filled for him before he moved in) Now it seems I cant even get him out on a 21. The govt need to realise that private rentals will soon be being withdrawn from the market. Personally I will not be renting again when this sorry state is sorted.

It is not yet law,so I would slap 21 on him asap!

Sam Preston

Thanks HeavyKarma - will look into it but he has a 12 month contract since Jan and so has only been in 3 months!

One more month, and you can get in there. What a total pain,I feel for you.

Any date on this section being withdrawn?

Mortimer

No.  The Labour Party and the Conservatives both plan to introduce legislation to end it, but it's not in any published draft bill yet.  So extremely unlikely to be withdrawn before 2021 and could be substantially later.

I was under the impression that they are now about to launch a 12 week consultation about S21 abolition
