My tenant has just given her notice stating she is leaving  in two weeks. I've told her that as she's now on a periodic tenancy she must give me at least a months notice.  On her original tenancy agreement she was paying every two weeks but she hasn't paid this way in a long time, in fact she's been nearly a month in arrears for about six months now. Can someone tell me what is the right length of notice she should be giving me? Thanks

Is the notice period not expressly set out in the original agreement?

The standard is a month notice. Unless the original tenancy states rent is paid weekly weekly then a week would be required. If the tenant owes rent and has no intention of paying you probably want them out sooner than later to avoid further financial loss. Their deposit probably wont cover the arrears and any damage.
