Heating a empty house over winter

Hi all,

New member here, I have taken over looking after a rental property we have that has been left in a bit of a state by the previous tenant, in the interim before we look at what to do to get a new tenant in I'd like to know how often should we set the heating to come on to ensure the house doesn't get damp through the winter?

The house is a late 19th century Terraced/Semi through by light with part double glazing and some damp and water ingress is already evident in one of the bedrooms that adjoins the gable end of the house.

It's on a gas token meter so I don't want to be throwing money at it.

Great site this, lots and lots to read, we used a letting agent previously but with the wealth of information available I might just have a go at letting it myself this time around.

Thanks

GD

i would set timer for just 2-3 hours twice a day.
see my last post regarding getting new tenants and doing it yourself.
