just though i would add some information of interest in case anyone didnt see the speech by ed milliband (it) the other day.

he happily stated that if re-elected they would be scrutinising private landlords even more closely in order to protect poor tenants becoming homeless because we obviously havent got enough c**p to deal with.
the best bit was when he said they would look to increase the notice period required from 8 to 16 weeks.
that would give unscrupulous tenants the chance to reside in your property for F**k all for months.

on the other hand i have a letter from Mark Harper MP stating that if they are elected they would look at why hb cannot be paid direct to landlords if the tenant asks for this to happen- i chased him up on this when they were elected and some Lord T**t  was doing a review but to date nothing has been done.  it really remains for me to convince my housing benefit manager who i get on very well with that my tenants are all debt ridden alcoholic drug takers in order to get direct payment.
