Hello!  Been following for a long time but first post.  Our tenant has complained that the fridge/freezer is fluctuating in temperature.  It is not a frost free fridge and is I am guessing around 10 years old (the flat is around 10 years old)  (we bought the flat 3 years ago).  The tenant has tried defrosting and said it didn't help (they are decent tenants).  Would you bring someone in to look at it and fix it to try and get another 2/3 years out of it or would you just buy a new one?  This last 6 months it seems like everything is breaking down (washing machine, boiler) so fixing seems like the cheaper option.  Or is it false economy?  Just wanted to know anyones opinion on the situation. Thank you very much!  Cindy

It does not sound as if it owes you much.Parts and labour can add up to quite a bit,so I usually replace anything that is out of warranty.Appliances do seem to go wrong at the same time-uncanny.

In my experience for old machines it is best to just buy a new one.  One or two repairs ends up being the cost of a new machine.
