Hi, On Friday morning I was asleep I'm bed and the next thing I knew was the estate agent in the hallway shouting hello. He said he was sorry that he let himself in but he needed the key. He gave me two keys when I moved in but one didn't work and I phoned him the day I moved in and said only one key worked. I asked him why he didn't call and tell me he was coming around but he didn't have an answer. He said that he wanted to come around in two weeks to do a property inspection and I've only been living here for two weeks. It's completely unfurnished and I haven't even unpacked because there's no nothing to unpack into and I can't afford furniture at the moment. I was homeless for six weeks before I got this place and I had slept in my car the last two nights before I moved in here. I was so happy that I had a safe place but now it doesn't feel safe anymore. I'm on my own and I really don't know what to do.
Thanks for any advice
Mandy

It is simply not courteous of the agent to do this, particularly so to a tenant who seems to be honouring their part of the rental agreement. I would suggest you pen or email a polite note to the agents of your concerns and ask them to please to make initial phone contact with you and agree upon a time and date for their attendance in future.

I think I would leave the key in the door but turned slightly so it can't be pushed out, or fit a bolt/chain.
