Sigh .. this has been a very exhausting week for me. I feel very drained, I must be honest to say. Another situation that I am facing :

1) I have to put an electrical shower in my bathroom as my tenant is not able to wait for a few extra day to have my immersion heater fixed. There isn't one in my bathroom until yesterday, thus this is a new unit and new working.

2) Please may I have advice on the following :
- do I need to get certificate from the electrician for the works done ? I requested for certs and they say they will charge for the cert ? But logically, if a new installation is done, surely a qualified electrician know that a cert is needed ?
- if I need a cert / certs, what type of cert / certs do I need ?

3) What kind of information should I know about the electrical shower and the installation and works that has been done ?

4) Anyone has had an electrical shower fixed in their bathroom lately ? Just curious about cost. I was informed it is appx £550 (electrician, plumber, tiling, etc included) and I feel this is extremely high ..

I know nothing about electricity. All I know is everytime I change tenant, I have to ensure I have an EICR obtained and I do ensure I do that. My last EICR was obtained in February this year, thus very new still.

Would appreciate having kind advices.

Thank you.

No, you don't.

No EICR is needed for a simple - normal - exclusive use let. You have been misinformed or arrived at your own incorrect conclusion. Save yourself some money and perform an electrical safety check yourself.
