Tenant with Savings vs Tenant with Job

Dear All

I'm a landlord. I own a large house in London. The house contains two self contained studios which I rent out.  In addition, I rent out a room in my own part of the house to a lodger who shares my kitchen.

I've had a few (non-DSS) applicants who are not working, but looking for work and have substantial savings. The amount of savings is always large. So an applicant could live comfortably as a lodger or tenant (studio) for a whole year without any other income.  I'm inclined to look more favourably on applicants with large savings than those with a job as they already have the money. Where as employment is  a promise that rent will be paid. They have provided me with good proof of savings.

What do other landlords think about this? Do you prefer large savings over a job?
Many thanks
Bill
