Hi all

I finally got my house back (yay!!) but it's complete dump and likely to take thousands to get it up to the mark again (which my ex tenants won't contribute to just as they won't pay me back the thousands they owe in rent arrears)

As part of the clean up, looking to hire casual labourers and builders to work on repairing / plastering etc - but it seems everyone prefers cash in hand. Any tips on how I can record this for tax purposes so that I can make it tax deductible at a later stage?

Thanks

As long as they give you a proper invoice, it doesn't really matter if you settle it with cash rather than a bank transfer.

If they're not prepared to provide an invoice, I wouldn't use them.
