How be often should I check a connubial fire alarm?

Four storey building containing three self contained flats all accessible from communal staircase.  Central fire alarm with detectors in each flat and communal staircase operating as independent zones.

Alarm is serviced every six months (by company) with monthly checks (using smoke canister on at least two detectors in hallway on rota) by me.  Is this often enough for testing?

(In addition to central alarm there are also some battery operated independent alarms in flat)

Depends on how many years you've been together:
- Often daily at the start.
- Maybe settling down to 2 or 3 times a week over time.
- Perhaps less frequently if any underlying problems emerge.

After a certain length of time you can legally  stop being arsed altogether.

The quality of OP threads (and the jokes in response) are degrading (over time, I mean). It's like people just don't care any more.

I, for one, cannot see a problem with monthly checks... I doubt very much, as a comparison, that Council and Housing Association blocks of flats are checked as frequently... but, then, Councils do seem to escape so much of the legislation your typical Landlord shoulders.

I was given to understand that position was very much optional anyway.
