Hi,

I have a HB tenant who had added a boyfriend to her claim (without me knowing).
The council suspended the rent & wrote to me advising me of this.
I have been in touch with them weekly & tried to get the tenant to sort this out.
Council wanted income information which she wouldn't / didn't provide.
But they had to wait until the deadline date had passed before they could make a decision.
I spoke to them today (15/08/13) & was informed that they had CANCELLED the rent as of the 01/07/13.

So I need some help / advise on what I should / can I do ?

Should I get legal advise OR just write saying that they have cancelled her rent & that I want her to vacate ?

what ever the circumstances. give them notice .. and get
tenant who pays rent.

If your tenant refuses to give info to council they will not pay. The partner must be working which will probably make them not entitled to HB, so I would start the process to evict for non payment

How did this work out? My daughter had same problem over three months social reduced rent through council three times. Council stated not their problem. Up to her to get the cash. Finally five months later tenant vacated, owing money, some will be paid for damage, rest just had to suck it up.
