Hi, I am going to serve a section 21 notice on my Tenants, but it is a little confusing getting the right date to put on the notice. The tenancy is a 6 month fixed term, the tenancy started on the 9th of December 2015. I collect the rent on the 9th. If i serve the notice on say the 3rd of June would the correct date to put on the form be the 8th of August, using the section 21a form? Thanks

I think i have got it now, i read the article on this site. Because i an serving whilst the tenancy is still in fixed term i need to use form 21b.

No you cant
You need form 6a
De-Regulation Act 2015 has changed the form.

Suggest to google: tenant form 6a section 21

Best of luck

On the site it says:

Section 21 FORM 6A – this is only for tenancies in England (not Wales) and can be used for all Assured Shorthold Tenancies (i.e. in some cases, you could serve either this notice or 21(4)a/21(1)b, depending on the tenancy start date), but must be used if the tenancy started on or after 1st October 2015.
