Hi, where and which alarms must be placed in let property. ?

Hippogriff

A Nest Protect will do that job.

Alarms must be on each floor... not just 1, unless it's a bungalow, I guess.

Martha

I could be wrong? but I dont think 1 on each floor is speciifc enough for Carbon Monoxide alarms.   I think they have to be placed in the same room as a fuel burning unit, and it is not therefore, necessarily  limited to one per floor.

Nest Protect does it all is what I was saying... you can certainly have separate non-networked little cream-coloured boxes all over the shop if you want... but I've "gotten with the times"... 3 x Nest Protects nearly bankrupted me, but I now make a big deal out of it... people go "oooo", they really do (it's 'cos they're idiots).

Also, you can have a kind of conversation with Nest Protect... a bit one-sided, but that's kinda like chatting to my partner.

Your comment about location is indeed correct... but Andy can't be that bright, otherwise he'd've researched this himself, so I didn't want to complicate matters.

Smoke alarms must be fitted on each floor and interlinked. Co2 alarms must be fitted in each room that uses a solid fuel burning appliance, ie coal or log burners. Gas and oil are not solid fuel so don't need to supply one but it would be good practice to.

Be wary of advice for a forum and do your own research

They do not need to be interlinked unless you are in Scotland.
Admittedly I last checked three months ago...

Furthermore the Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 stipulate you must follow the manufacturers instructions so technically the answer to 'where to install a smoke alarm' iis on each storey but follow the instructions (which usually indicate minimum distances from light fittings etc).

Best of luck

PS I do agree with Hippos comment, too many folks are not even trying to do the most basic of research before posting.  I wouldn't have bothered to reply but for the incorrect information posted last.

This last sentence is worth agreeing with, though... I fit Carbon Monoxide alarms in all let properties (apart from the one that has electrical heating) as it gives me peace of mind.

Strangely, I do not have one in my own home. Which possibly demonstrates that I value the lives of my Tenants over that of my own. I am a good Landlord.
