Hi.

Whilst I know how important it is to avoid void periods, sometimes it happens (particularly if you're in the process of bringing a new property online.)

Until fairly recently, it was a good idea to select a 'no standing charge' tariff and pay only for the electricity/gas used in keeping the property safe (alarm and occasional lights, personal use during renovations)

Nowadays it seems that NSC tariffs are frowned upon because they confuse tenants/homeowners. What are landlords doing in this day and age to minimise the amount spent on power when there's no tenant?

Thanks

I just take the hit and write it off against tax.  As you say, the void period shouldn't be too long.

Are you saying there are no NSC tariffs available anymore?  As for confusing tenants, it's not too difficult is it.

Agreed it's what 15p a unit premium for low usage during voids.

Peanuts.....

Find a supplier who offers a landlord service to an owner of multple properties.
You often get a separate number to call - which saves a lot of being told how important you call is.

Or just fit meters.
