I have recently became a landlord just renting out my family home as I don't need it at the moment. The tenant who has a very good income has just stopped paying the rent. I have it managed by a well known estate agent who has served the notice to quit. I know his employer who gave him a reference would not be amused to say the least and have asked the agent for the tenants employers details but they say they cannot give them to me as this would be illegal due to confidentiality laws. Can anybody tell me if this is correct ? Also is there not a site where landlords can name and shame these shitty tenants or is this also illegal. Seems to me landlords are treated with total contempt when it comes to right and wrong.
Thanks

Sorry to hear that the tenant is a ratbag. How awful. I have dealt with people who have done a runner. The void period, thankfully was short. So, I know how you feel and would want to do exactly what you want to do and maybe I would if I had the employer details. But, the tenant might try and take revenge or take you to court for slander so if poss, just draw a line and move forward.

I would concentrate on getting them out.  Seeking revenge for revenge sake is not actually going to achieve anything,

Thanks for the advise. My intention was not to seek revenge but I think his employer would encourage him to pay up or leave by the date of notice, which at the end of the day would be all I could hope for. I think there should be a site where we could share info on these type of people to help prevent other landlords getting stuffed.
Thanks again for your replies

It sounds to me that you need to start the eviction process under Section 8/21. These can now be done online through the Government's own website process. There is plenty of good guidance on how to do this on this forum.

When applying for your order for possession please check with your County Court to see if their bailiffs are facing significant delays (many are). If so you may want to use an HCEO to evict them in a shorter timescale saving you lost rent and enabling you to let the property back out agains as soon as possible.
