Periodic Tenancies re New laws

A happy new year to all.

Can we still have "roll on" tenancies? Also what are your opinions on them, they do seem to save time.

No idea what a "roll on" tenancy is...
Do you mean periodic tenancy?
If so then yes they are still valid

Surely it isn't too hard for landlords to actually use the correct terms

Nothing wrong at all with them.
Some landlords prefer them as they permit a shorter period during which a section 21 cannot be actioned
It's a balance between security of tenure and flexibility to terminate the agreement (for both landlord and tenant).

My personal opinion is to use 6 month AST and then let them become periodic.

Your idea of 6 months and then becoming periodic seems good.
