Anyone else had free central heating and insulation from the Eco-flex scheme?

Hi all,
I'm always sceptical of these so called 'eco schemes' and grants... although having heard they're in the last phases of funding, I thought it was an option worth exploring especially if the government wants to splash out on my property on my behalf 😊.

I have a few rentals dotted around the south wales area and have looked into a few agents that can help, was recommended one by a close friend they operate throughout the UK (checked the Swansea council page they are approved there too)

He shared the link with me and they got back to me pretty sharpish, within the month I had a brand new central heating system, internal and external wall insulation (I had the option of either) its saved me an absolute fortune.

Has anyone else benefitted from this?

The wording of the above post smells a lot like advertising disguised as a personal recommendation.

The jotform that captures your information says "The local council just need a few details from you to check what you're entitled to." which suggests that the information will go to your 'local council', however as shown by the (tiny) logo top left, the information goes to Evan Thomas & Sons Ltd

If you've done your research on the scheme, you'll find that an individual can't apply for these grants by themselves they have to go through the approved agents, they operate on behalf of these councils, a quick Google search would tell you that . So I ask people to read up before they give their opinion on something they don't fully understand. This was free for me  and fully funded? I'm sharing with fellow landlords so that they can also benefit from what I had.

To be fair, it does look a bit like you've created a user account just to tell us about this amazing scheme ... and give a link to a specific commercial supplier.

It also looks like Handyman registered recently... and has only really bothered to point this distasteful aspect out to us.

Hippogriff: "It also looks like Handyman registered recently"

That is true

It is correct that it is my first post.

However, my status is:

1. Currently renovating a flat with the intention of becoming a landlord, i.e I am in learning mode.

2. Have been progressively working my way through the excellent and extensive Landlord blog articles and the readers' comments since discovering the site 2 months ago and have been compiling information to help with 1 above (the landlord bit, not the renovation  :) ).

3. Have read every post that has been made to the forum since I registered (via an RSS reader so I don't miss any), keeping links to useful advice. A great source of knowledge.

4. Got frustrated when I saw the hidden advertising at the start of this thread and so made my first post.

So far, all my prospective landlord questions have been answered as a result of 2 and 3, so there has been no need to post a question, and I do not yet have actual practical landlord experience to contribute.

Thanks

Hippogriff

Your second post was a doozy though. Let's keep on keeping-on...

But, seriously, don't worry... we Moderators do jump on things like this.... especially the more overt attempts.
