During my first year of renting out my house I used CIA Insurance but Ive just had a quote from a company called Peacocks which is £100 less than CIA's renewal offer.

I've not seen any reviews of Peacocks so wonder if anyone here knows of them or can recommend a good provider.

(The quote is £238 for a DSS tenant in a terraced house)

I use direct line for business. They do landlord insurance.
They have been very good on there price. Although I have never made a claim with them so couldn't comment how good they are when it comes to that.

TBH the amount quoted is not that relevant without knowing what parameters you put into your quote.

I guess the only information of real value is whether there are recommendations from people who have had to claim on a policy and were happy with the outcome.

I use a Broker. I've always been happy enough with the policies provided that I've not gone elsewhere. The Broker makes me a recommendation whether to stick with the new policy or go back to the market and I, generally, take that advice. The Broker also assisted me on the 1 claim I've made for a duff boiler and liaised between myself and the Insurance Company employee. In the end it went smoothly, so I think there was some benefit there... although I have nothing empirical to compare it to.
